Participant Profile

The participant profile is mid to senior level managers, including business unit managers with 5 or more years of functional management experience, who have demonstrated leadership potential.

Participants represent a diverse range of organizations. The program will suit participants with an academic education as well as self-taught managers. The program is open-enrol lment and participants can enroll from all over the world at any time, as the program is done via e-learning modules.

The participants are expected to use a total of 75 hours. The program level is similar to that of an MBA and has three parts:

• Part 1: E-Learning (5 weeks / 30 hours).
• Part 2: Lectures (3 weeks / 15 hours).
• Part 3: Project (5 weeks / 30 hours).

All three parts are done from your home or place of work via e-learning modules, video lectures and individual work.

Part 1: E-learning from Harvard Business School Publishing

The program builds on leading-edge e-learning tools and material from Harvard Business School Publishing, which has been designed to help you and your organization to build critical managerial and leadership skills at all levels. The e-learning modules from Harvard Business School Publishing are built on a solid foundation of cutting-edge learning approaches, content from world-class experts, intuitive navigation, and results-oriented tools and diagnostics.

Part 2: The Harvard Business School Publishing Faculty Seminar Series

The program also includes the Harvard Business School Publishing Faculty Seminar Series, which features the work of leading faculty from Harvard Business School. Each seminar is presented on a CD-ROM and takes you inside the classroom of Harvard Business School for inspirational ideas, penetrating insights, and practical advice from faculty experts. You'll see and hear a classroom lecture and follow along with synchronized slides that illustrate the presentation.

Part 3: Project Assignment

Professor Francis J. Aguilar has been preparing the project assignment, which is expected to require thirty (30) hours of work, approximately 3,000 words and is assigned around a case from Harvard Business School, in which students have to solve a problem, making decisions and establish a base of knowledge about the case. Case studies challenge students by bringing them as close as possible to business situations of the real world. Cases provide excellent management lessons that students can put into practice in their professional lives.

When you have successfully completed the elearning program in Part 1, AVT will issue a Certificate of Completion of Harvard Business School Publishing's Essential Leader program. When you have successfully completed all three parts, AVT will award the Certificate for Leaders.
